After the Strip · MAX
The Keys Come With a Calendar
Max wants to get to work and class without every trip becoming a small transportation summit. Having her own car would change an ordinary Tuesday. That is a real reason to want one.
The monthly payment is only part of what she is considering. Insurance, fuel, and maintenance also need room in the same income. The car will not politely limit its needs to the number that first caught her attention.
Mom’s agreement to cosign makes the decision shared in a particular way. Max gets the use of the car; Mom also accepts a stake in what happens with the loan. Their conversation needs to cover what Max will pay and what she will say if the money is short.
By the time Max has the keys, she has made more than a purchase. She has accepted an ongoing set of commitments that ordinary life will keep testing.
She can enjoy the freedom. Getting herself where she needs to be is worth enjoying. The calendar comes along for the ride.
What ongoing commitment comes with something you want to make your life easier?
