After the Strip · MAX
One of Them Is Coming Home With Me
Max’s favorite print is the chair crowded with plants. The people stopping at her table are more interested in the other design. Apparently the public has arrived with its own taste.
She can count that information without making it the final word on the chair. She chose the colors and composition because she wanted to see them together. After the table is packed away, she still wants the print on her wall.
The sales matter, too. Max paid for a small run, sleeves, and a place at the event. She protected her repayment money and set a limit before booking. Counting what came in against those costs is part of finding out how this experiment went.
So is admitting that she hoped her favorite would sell better. Loving the work does not prevent disappointment when other people walk past it.
She has made original work, shown it, and talked about it without apologizing. She has also learned something about the experience of selling. None of those results needs to swallow the others.
Now there is packing to finish, food to get with Maven, and one very specific place on Max’s wall.
What do you still like about something you made, even if its reception was different from what you hoped?
