After the Strip · MAX

They Asked for Me

A returning client asks for Max. She gets to enjoy that sentence.

There is work behind it: useful questions, a first draft, a revision that responds to what the client wants readers to notice. When an additional format appears, Max checks the time and scope before promising it. The finished piece goes through review.

None of that makes her contribution smaller. Her supervisor’s support is part of how the work gets done, and Max can describe it accurately when she asks to use the piece in her portfolio. She does not have to claim the entire operation to show what she brought to it.

Being requested again gives her something concrete to feel proud of. Someone has seen her work and would like more of it.

She still checks her workload before answering. Apparently professional recognition has not abolished Thursday. But the check happens alongside pleasure: she likes doing this, she is getting better at it, and another person has noticed.

That success can stand on its own.

What contribution can you describe proudly and accurately, including the support that helped you make it?
