After the Strip · Max & Maven

August Brought Receipts

August was a useful date to choose back when it was comfortably far away. Now it has arrived with actual numbers.

Maven’s summer savings do not match her estimate. They still represent work she did and money she has. Max has an approved flyer and a better understanding of what producing one requires. Neither notebook contains the version of summer they could have written before living it.

There is useful information beyond the totals, too. Maven liked helping people find their next step. Max wants more design work, although wanting another project has not created another afternoon in her schedule.

Their check-in gives those discoveries somewhere to go. They can investigate different work, revise an expectation, or ask a more specific question. The earlier plan has served a purpose even where it needs changing.

Then they go to the art walk. Reviewing their lives does not need to consume the entire day they set aside to see each other. August has art and food in it, too.

What has actually trying your plan taught you that your original estimate could not?
