Missy signature M with heartMentors + Grown-Ups

Missy opens conversations. She doesn’t replace them.

Missy’s Room is an educational and mentoring resource for reflection, coping, communication, and decision practice. The adult is still the adult.

What Missy is

A tool.

  • A mentoring resource
  • A conversation starter
  • Age-appropriate practice tools
  • A journaling companion
  • A fictional character girls can learn alongside
What Missy isn’t

Not a care system.

  • Therapy or diagnosis
  • Crisis counseling
  • A place for a young person to report a problem
  • A private messaging service
  • A substitute for appropriate professional or emergency support
Her journal belongs to her

Use Missy to open conversations—not interrogations.

Instead of:

“Why did you write that?”

“Let me see your journal.”

Try:

“Was there anything in the page that stood out to you?”

“Is there anything you want to share with me?”

A young person should not be routinely required to hand over private journal writing. Adults should still follow appropriate program, safeguarding, legal, and emergency responsibilities when there is reason to believe a young person may be unsafe.

How to use Missy

Keep the adult role clear.

1 · LET HER CHOOSEA comic, tool, or printable is enough.
2 · ASK WHAT STOOD OUTNot what she “should have learned.”
3 · OFFER HELPWithout turning reflection into surveillance.
4 · RESPOND AS THE ADULTIf something serious comes up, handle it through the appropriate adult/program pathway—not through the website.
Privacy by design

Built to know very little about the girl using it.

No child accountsNo profiles, names, passwords, followers, or bios.
No social layerNo DMs, comments, public posting, or peer messaging.
No reflection collectionNo open-response boxes, journal uploads, or personal reflection storage.
A girl can read, choose, download, and leave.

Use the resource that fits the moment. Missy should support the relationship—not become the relationship.

Don’t Turn Missy Into Homework

One important safety rule.

If a young person shares something that suggests she or someone else may not be safe, follow your program’s safeguarding and escalation requirements. A useful transparency question for a young person is: “If I tell you something, who would you have to tell?”
