Panel 1: Maven tells Mom: “They offered two full days instead of five mornings.” Revised summer office assistant offer: Tuesday and Thursday, 7:30–6; 30-minute unpaid lunch; $16/hour; 20 paid hours/week.

Panel 2: Mom: “Tuesdays and Thursdays work for the car. Back by seven?” Maven: “Yes. I finish at six. The drive is about thirty minutes.” Mom’s calendar assigns Monday, Wednesday and Friday to herself and Tuesday and Thursday to Maven.

Panel 3: Maven: “I’m taking the paid job.” Sent message: “I accept the revised schedule. See you Tuesday.”

Panel 4: Maven declines the summer outreach internship. Sent message: “Thank you for the offer. I won’t be able to accept.”

Panel 5: Maven writes: “I wanted the outreach work. I’m disappointed. I’m still taking the paid job.”

Panel 6: Tuesday, first day. Maven enters Riverside Community Center, Administration.
