Panel 1: On a campus bench, Maven asks Eli: “You still owe me $140. What can you repay, and when?”

Panel 2: Eli: “I said next week.”

Panel 3: Maven: “Which day? And how much?”

Panel 4: Eli: “Seventy Friday. Seventy the Friday after.”

Panel 5: Maven: “Okay. If that changes, tell me before I have to ask.”

Panel 6: Later, Maven records the repayment plan: Friday $70, following Friday $70, still owed $140. She thinks: “That’s the agreement. It isn’t the deposit.”
